Schemes are used by Coaches to determine how players line up on the court on Offense and Defense, and the Pace at which they can move the ball on a Fast Break.

A Coach needs at least 1 Offensive and Defensive Scheme each, but may have up to 4 of each.

Schemes are kept face-up near the Player profiles for easy reference. When not in use, you can keep them face down in a pile. You can look at this pile whenever you want. When you change schemes, the previous scheme goes back to the pile.

In the Pre-Game phase coaches should keep their chosen Schemes face down, and reveal them simultaneously.

Schemes can be changed during dead balls and timeouts. When a coach wishes to change their scheme, they should let the opposing coach know, and then place their new scheme face down. The opposing coach can then opt to play their own new scheme face down, or leave it as is. Once coaches have confirmed, they should flip their Schemes face-up and resume play.

The Card

Each Scheme card consists of 3 Elements:

  • Side of the Ball – whether this Scheme applies to your Offense or Defensive
  • Team Positioning – the location of your players on the court during Half-Court Offense
  • Pace – the number of actions you can take during a Fast Break
