There are three Offensive Skill types that can be performed by playing Action Cards

Passing

Passing Skills allow you to move the ball from the Ball Handler to a teammate quickly.

When playing a Passing Skill, the Offensive Coach selects a Target, who is a Teammate that is in-bounds and within the Field of Vision of the Ball Handler.

The Ball Handler then makes a Skill Roll using their PASS stat value.

If the Pass is Perfect, the Offensive Coach moves the ball token to a hex adjacent to the Target, who now becomes the Ball Handler. If you have already made a Half-Move, you may make an additional Half-Move. If you have not spent any Move points this second, you may make a Full Move.

If the Pass is Successful, the Offensive Coach moves the ball token to a hex adjacent to the Target, who now becomes the Ball Handler. If you have not already spent any Move points prior to the Pass, you may do so now.

If the Pass is Sloppy, the Target makes a BBIQ roll. If they succeed, the ball token moves to a hex adjacent to them and they are now the Ball Handler. They may not spend any Move points, even if you have not spent any this second.

If the Pass fails, there is a Loose Ball from the mid-way point between between the Ball Handler and Target.

Dribbling

Dribbling Skills are a way for the Ball Handler to open up space from defenders. You may attempt a Dribbling Skill at any point in your Half-Move

To attempt a Dribble Skill, the Offensive Coach selects a Defensive player that is within 3 Hexes in the Ball Handler’s Field of Vision at the time of the Skill.

The Ball Handler then makes a Skill Roll using their HAND stat value.

If the Dribble is Perfect, the Offensive Coach may move the selected Defender up to a Half-Move in any direction. If this would cause the Defender to take any BBIQ tests or leave the court, they stop and the move ends. The Defender cannot make any other moves this second.

If the Dribble is Successful, the Offensive Coach may move the selected defender up 1 Hex instead.

If the Dribble is Sloppy, the Ball Handler takes a BBIQ test. If they succeed, they may Pivot the Defender up to 2 times. If they fail, neither the Defender nor Ball Handler move and the second ends.

If the Dribble Fails, there is a Loose Ball from the current position of the Ball Handler.

Shooting

To Shoot, a Ball Handler must have the Hoop within their Field of Vision and they must be on the Defender’s half of the court (no full-court lobs!).

When attempting a Shot, the location you are shooting from determines which of the three Shot stat values you use.

If you are on a hex Beyond the Arc (or directly intersecting it), use the 3PT Shot value. If you are on a hex adjacent to the Restricted Circle, use the DRIVE Shot value. For anything in-between, use the MID shot value.

If the Shot is Perfect or Successful, it is a made basket and your score increases by 2 or 3 points.

If the Shot is Sloppy, the Shooter takes a BBIQ test. If they pass, the shot still goes in. If they fail, they miss the basket and a Rebound happens.
